The 2nd and most recent partnership IO brings to the table is with HUGO BOSS, HUGO in particular. Originally founded in Germany in 1924, HUGO BOSS has spent the last century building its reputation as one of the most established and well known fashion brands in the world. HUGO, is the brand’s sub-label with more of a focus on fashion trends and a strong casual influence bringing streetwear-inspired designs more targeted toward younger customers and online sales. HUGO had great success with its fresh, new and innovative online marketing campaigns assisting the brand to bring in 2.7 billion dollars in 2021, making the IO/HB partnership one of the biggest the web2 or web3 space has ever seen. This is just another reason Imaginary Ones is gearing itself up to be one of the most well known companies in the NFT Space.

So what utilities does this bring Imaginary Ones holders you may ask? Well, with this partnership fresh off the printing press, we may have to wait a little while longer to understand the true depth of the web2/web3 partnership, but heres what we do know: HUGO will be launching their first ever NFT collection utilizing the IO ecosystem, staking and all. The collection entitled ‘Embrace Your Emotions’ (EYE) is set to mint in the start of November 2022 and will consist 1,001 animated Ions. The aim of the collection is to “encourage everyone to connect with their emotions, and to share a message that all feelings, positive and negative, are valid and should be embraced” (Chia). Of the 1,001 NFTs, six will be legendaries and will contain special attributes, five of them being joy, sadness, fear, anger, and love, and a special sixth character combining all five emotions. The sixth character was auctioned off on October 10th, 2022 (World Mental Health Day) by IO and HUGO with 100% of the proceeds donated to Youth Aware of Mental Health (YAM). This special Ion sold for 15.4 Eth or roughly $20,000 USD.

In total there will be 1,000 allowlist spots allocated to the collection. 500 will be allocated to customers who purchase an exclusive ‘phygital’ T-shirt. These 500 shirts, 100 for each emotion, are part of a limited-edition sale, and will each contain a QR code where users can use Snapchat to create a special Augmented Reality effect. The other 500 spots will be distributed to existing holders of the Imaginary Ones genesis collection, the minimum requirement of course being that you have at least one adventurer IO (30 days staked). As for utility, more details are to be released but as of now owning a HUGO x Imaginary Ones NFT gives users access to Imaginary Ones staking ecosystem, a VIP account as well as a 10% discount to the HUGO eCommerce store. Merchandise, IRL experiences, content, HUGO-themed IO vehicle NFTs and HUGO wearable NFTs are also in the works for holders. Companies like HUGO and Imaginary Ones are leading the way when it comes to innovation and adaptability in both the web2 and web3 space. A successful roll-out may just set Chia and his team up to lead the charge in merging web2 giants into the NFT space.

Imaginary Rides

Imaginary Rides is something that is very anticipated by the community and is IO’s next collection within the Imaginary World ecosystem. In order to match the quantity of the IO genesis collection, the Imaginary Rides collection will consist of 8,888 animated bubbly vehicles that are comprised of anything from standard land, water and air vehicles, all the way to household objects and food. It’s been rumoured that rides will play a crucial role in the development and interactivity of the staking system and the project as a whole. It has also been hinted that Imaginary rides will be used in Staking quests/games and as a transportation method in the metaverse or maybe even between metaverses. Imaginary Rides will not be purchased but rather claimed by holders. Each holder will be able to claim one ride for every Ion they own so long as — you guessed it — you have your Imaginary Ones staked.

Staking Quests/Artifacts

We don’t know too much about the quests at this point in time but what we do know is Chia and his team plan to add another layer of depth to the staking model with the introduction of guests and group quests. Quests will no doubt add engagement to their model as it will allow holders to communicate and employ teamwork as they work together to complete a common goal for extra rewards in Imaginary World. What type of rewards you may ask? Well, that has yet to be released, so keep your eyes on their social media for updates. That being said, there has been a claim added to the staking page for ‘Mysterious Artifacts’ which is not yet usable at this time. Wether these two things have ties or not is yet to be seen but it certainly does add some anticipation for the holders of Imaginary Ones.

Imaginary Token

We have no real details or timeline on this but it is in the roadmap to be delivered at some point. Most staking models do have a token of some sorts that you can earn. Typically they are spent on things such as Whitelists, merchandise or things along those lines. These are great and all but based on their history, I have no doubt that the IO team will deliver a token model that has yet to be seen in the space. With the SEC breathing down everyone’s necks about being a security, I’m glad that the IO team is being patient in the release of this feature.

Closing Personal Opinion

There is an arsenal of reasons why I’ve personally chosen to invest in Imaginary Ones, many of them listed above. But it’s much more than that. The Web3 space can be a daunting place to get involved in; theres a lack of accountability as well as sustainability with a majority of projects out there, but I believe Chia and the IO team are combatting that on every level with incredible success.

In terms of the team, I wanted to invest in a company with a team that meshed well and had prior years of experience together to back it up. I wanted them to be doxxed and confident enough to put their name on the brand, while simultaneously providing honesty, transparency and communication to their community. The team needed to present a plan that supports sustainability for years to come despite the market being bullish or bearish. They manage money very intelligently — you can see the treasury funds via etherscan and the team has been really honest about what those funds are going to, including converting half of the $5,000,000 into USD to hedge against the bearish market. The Imaginary Ones team has also done a fantastic job at under promising and over delivering and thats really refreshing in a space that is plagued with broken promises. I feel that IO has confidently checked these boxes, which in my opinion is the starting foundation a project needs for long term success.

There are many other reasons to invest in IO so I’ll start with their website. It’s clear upon first glance that the team has put a lot of effort and thought into creating their website. It’s colourful, it’s engaging, it’s user friendly and easy to navigate while also delivering useful information in a simplistic way. They utilize the website to leak information and get the community excited, but its not over-saturated with things that may make a new investor feel overwhelmed. In fact, they even have things on the site to assist a new investor, such as a pop-up explaining the process of staking and what it entails before the user chooses to do so. It’s this type of design in the company that will make it easy to onboard old investors as well as new investors just entering the space.

The Imaginary team is constantly working and communicating to their community while also leaving future additions a secret. Their marketing experience shines bright with the way they launch new features or partnerships. They do a really good job of not releasing it all at once in order to maintain anticipation within the community. The HUGO partnership was a great example of that with both teams giving little bits and pieces at a time while still leaving some details out in order to keep people like myself excited. Another example of great marketing within the HUGO partnership is the utilization of certain roles within the Discord. Depending on how many Ions you own you will receive a badge in the Discord server. These badges are the very criteria for how the new HUGO NFT collection is being dispersed. For example, 5+ holders have a 50% chance at getting an allowlist spot for the collection, while 10+ holders are guaranteed 1 spot. This announcement led to an increase in sales volume as people tried to acquire a higher role for the new collection. IO Junior is another fantastic example of a genius marketing campaign that if successful will make Imaginary Ones known around the world, not only for our generation but future generations to come. You likely know as well as I do that some of the cartoons we used to watch as kids are still deeply engrained in our memory and always will be.

The Imaginary Ones staking model has changed my views on how other projects should be doing it. Most projects although in theory are meant to incentivize holding and lock up, that is often not the case as there is no penalty to un-stake, even if peoples intention is to un-stake temporarily, that is rarely is the case. The way IO has built their staking system rewards you for your time staked and if you do choose to un-stake, you will end up losing all the progress your Ions have had. With staking being a new feature in the ecosystem, I don’t believe we have seen this incentive truly flourish yet. Imagine a year down the line when holders have reached the max staking role an Ion can receive and they’re eligible for the best rewards being offered… it’s going to take a lot for these holders to want to un-stake and lose all that progress. On top of that, I believe that when they add some of the features we have discussed such as tokens and quests, it’s going make the staking system a lot of fun and add a whole other level of engagement to the current model.

In combination with the above, one of the biggest deciding factors for me was the general purpose and values of the project overall. Imaginary Ones is great example that success can be accomplished while also bringing joy and happiness to the world around it. The Ions are fun, beautifully designed and do a great job of reigniting the childish spark that lives inside all of us, but is too commonly pushed aside as we become adults. They use their art to engage your imagination, inspire love, creativity and a general respect for others regardless of how different they may be from yourself. This ideology at the base of a project is something I’ll gladly get behind and be happy to support time and time again.

This pretty much sums up my rundown on Imaginary Ones — not a bad list of accomplishments for the first 6 months, right? I love the community itself and everything that the team is accomplishing and the way they are delivering those accomplishments. Chia and his team are innovative, creative, motivated, and overall they’re fully committed to spreading love, joy and happiness, and that’s something that is really beautiful to see in the space. Theres no doubt in my mind that Imaginary Ones is setting a new standard for quality in web3 and is undoubtedly destined for more great things in the future.
